DT Swiss

The company was founded in 1994 by Marco Zingg, Frank Böckmann, and Maurizio D'Alberto. They acquired the spoke manufacturing division of Vereinigte Drahtwerke Biel through a management buyout. Over time, DT Swiss Group AG expanded its production to include other bicycle components and later other bicycle parts. In 2003, DT Swiss received the Espace Mittelland Entrepreneur Award. The company employs approximately 300 people and generated a turnover of 92 million Swiss francs in 2008.

In Biel, the headquarters, newly built in 2011, provides office, warehouse, and production space for approximately 200 employees. Since 1996, DT Swiss has maintained a sales and marketing team and its own production facility in Colorado, USA. In 2005, another production facility was opened in Taiwan to be closer to bicycle manufacturers in the Far East. A new production plant was opened in Poland in 2007, taking advantage of the competitive location with low labor costs within the EU.
